Herriman, a small town with a lot to offer to visitors, is home to the largest man-made excavation ever made.
The Bingham Canyon Mine is ¾ of a mile deep and has mined more copper than any other mine in the history of the world. Visitors can stand at the overlook and admire the sheer magnitude of it all while listening to an insightful audio recording explaining the mining operations.
Another one of Herriman’s most popular attractions is the “Up” house, a cute replica of the one featured in the popular Disney movie of the same name. While the interior is not open for tours to the public, visitors are welcome to take photos from the outside.
The town is also close to several other places of interest and unusual attractions, including the Museum of Ancient Life, which contains the most extensive collection of mounted fossils in the world; the Gravesite of Utah Valley’s First Jedi Priest; and the Hutchings Museum Institute.
