The largest and capital city of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, is named after the fertile valley of Stuttgart Kessel (German for Stuttgart Cauldron). Stuttgart is located about an hour from the Black Forest on the Neckar River.
It has been the seat of Counts and German Nobility for hundreds of years until the 19th Century, and as a result, Stuttgart is dotted with many royal palaces that are now being used as museums and government buildings.
