This charming town, surrounded by untamed wilderness, boasts numerous delightful attractions. Despite having more wild burros than residents, Oatman takes pride in preserving its rural and Western ambiance.
What makes Oatman different from other small, unvisited, forgotten museum towns is that the hundred or so inhabitants are determined to keep traditions alive. The town’s three blocks have narrow, dusty streets, which are lined by withered signs on both sides of a worn sidewalk. Small local shops are set up beneath gazebos, where people sit and chat loudly as they make knick-knacks, gadgets, and souvenirs for visitors. Snakes may be found under the plank walkways on the sides of the road, adding to the Wild West atmosphere this town conveys.
Oatman has a bunch of small, domesticated donkeys roaming around its Main Street, which are constantly chasing tourists for food. “Chow butter,” the food they are particularly fond of, is available in every little shop in Oatman. You will not find a more authentic Western experience than visiting Oatman. See the list below to discover all the fun attractions of this town
