Royal Caribbean’s appeal lies in its cruise loyalty program, aimed at honoring its most dedicated passengers known as the Crown and Anchor Society. This program is accessible to all, and accumulating points enables passengers to advance to higher loyalty tiers. Membership in Royal Caribbean’s loyalty program grants individuals special access to discounts, perks, and onboard festivities.
Because the Crown and Anchor Society may feel confusing or overwhelming to first-time cruises, we have compiled a comprehensive list of everything you need to know about what the program has to offer.
How to Earn Points
It is a very simple process to earn Crown and Anchor Society points. Once a part of the program, Crown and Anchor Society members earn one cruise point for every evening spent on the cruise ship. In other words, you will earn seven points for a seven-night cruise.
You can also speed up the process in various ways. Staying in suites helps guests earn double points every night, which means earning fourteen points for seven-night cruises.
Cruising solo can also be beneficial. For example, staying by yourself in a regular cabin can earn you double points, and staying by yourself in a suite can earn you twenty-one points for a seven-night stay.
The Crown & Anchor Society loyalty program is free to join, and it is recommended to make an account before embarking on your first Royal Caribbean cruise. Alternatively, you can also create an account and link past cruises, provided they fall within the last twelve months.
Keep in mind that points are only rewarded once you have completed your cruise. Even if you reach the next tier during your first cruise, the upgrade will only go into effect by your next cruise vacation.
Crown and Anchor Levels/ Tiers
The Crown and Anchor Society has six tiers:
- Gold Level – Three Points
- Platinum Level – Thirty Points
- Emerald Level – Fifty-Five Points
- Diamond Level – Eighty Points
- Diamond Plus Level – One Hundred and Seventy-Five Points
- Pinnacle Club Level – Seven Hundred Points
All guests start their first cruise at the Pre-Gold Tier. However, because most Royal Caribbean cruises run for three nights or longer, most new members of the Crown and Anchor Society will reach Gold Tier after just one cruise.
Gold Tier
The Gold level is the first official tier and ranges from three to twenty-nine points. Gold members don’t receive nearly as many benefits as some of the higher tiers, but will still be granted the following:

Diamond Tier
Many frequent cruisers consider it a right of passage to become a Diamond member. Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Tier members all receive some benefits, but it is at the Diamond Level that members start feeling the positive impact on their cruise vacation.
One of the biggest benefits of reaching the Diamond tier is Diamond Lounge access. The Diamond Lounge is, as the name suggests, exclusive to Diamond tier members and includes benefits of its own, like complimentary coffee and food. There is also a Diamond concierge service available.

The Diamond Plus tier ranged from one hundred and seventy-five to six hundred and ninety-nine cruise points. It offers all the benefits listed above and the following additional benefits:

The Pinnacle Club tier is the highest and most coveted level of Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society. Passengers need to earn a whopping seven hundred cruise points to be eligible and only a very small percentage of passengers ever reach Pinnacle Club status, making it a large milestone for guests.
Keep in mind that it is not necessary for guests to spend seven hundred nights on a cruise to become Pinnacle Club members. Guests can also book suites or cruise by themselves to speed up to process.

Youth and Companion Benefits
If you are a family member of someone in the Crown and Anchor society, you will receive equal-tier status. Points will still be determined by how often you cruise and which cabins you stay in, not how often the member cruises. However, you will receive all the same benefits as the Crown and Anchor Society member.
For example, the children of Diamond Plus members will be added automatically to the same tier as the membership status after their first cruise on a Royal Caribbean Ship. This is the case even if the child’s own account only has one point.
The only exception applies to Pinnacle Club membership. Because the Pinnacle Club is the highest tier, it must be achieved independently- regardless of a parent’s member status. Spouses and partners of members, on the other hand, will receive Pinnacle Club tier Crown and Anchor status.
Additional benefits for family members include a commemorative gift (at Diamond tier or higher) and onboard offers.
Diamond Lounge
The Diamond Lounge can be accessed by Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle Club tier members while onboard the ship. It is an exclusive area that is open twenty-four hours a day. There are snacks and coffee to be enjoyed, as well as comfortable seats.
Additionally, there is a Diamond concierge service available. Guests can make use of the concierge to assist in booking spa appointments, entertainment, dinner reservations, and shore excursions. The concierge service also offers support in case of problems and answers any general questions passengers may have.
Each evening, the Diamond Lounge hosts a Happy Hour. Typically, all beverages are complimentary during Happy Hour, though this rule changed temporarily following the pandemic. After the change, members of Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle Club tiers received complimentary drink vouchers every day to be used at bars or during Happy Hour at the Diamond Lounge. The number of vouchers differs for each tier. Pinnacle Club members receive six, Diamond Plus members receive five, and Diamond members receive four vouchers.
The majority of Royal Caribbean ships include a Diamond Lounge. In the case of a ship without a Diamond Lounge, there are exclusive Diamond events held each evening at a select venue.
Policy Changes
Royal Caribbean International has made some temporary changes and enhancements to the policy of member benefits since restarting cruises in 2021. These include:
- Daily complimentary drink vouchers can be used at any bar, private destination, and the Diamond Lounge for drinks up to the value of thirteen USD (Exclusive to Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle Club tier members)
- Pinnacle Members and Suite guests have flexible arrival times, making early check-in available
- Reservations are required for Pinnacle Club tier members to dine in Coastal Kitchen
- Twenty-five USD dining voucher at a specialty restaurant of choice (exclusive to Pinnacle Club tier members, only available on Quantum and Oasis-class ships)

Can Royal Caribbean Crown and Anchor points expire?
Crown and Anchor points never expire, which means that you will retain your membership status and tier indefinitely.
Even if you have cruised with Royal Caribbean group previously, before opening an account, you will still be able to receive credit/ points for those cruises. You can do this by calling the Crown and Anchor Society number with your sail date and requesting for it to be added to your account.
How many points are needed for a free cruise?
Members will need to reach the Pinnacle Club tier to get a free cruise. It is the highest tier and members need to have seven hundred points in order to receive Pinnacle Club status.
Can Royal Caribbean Crown and Anchor points be used on Celebrity Cruises?
Guests have the one-time option to receive the same member status on a Celebrity cruise. In this case, passengers will earn points with Celebrity Cruises rather than Royal Caribbean, but you will have an equivalent Captain’s Club status. Earning points with Celebrity Cruises will also help you move up in their tiers from that point on.
